Update Product Entitlement Versions

I'd say a central characteristic of software is that it is (most of the time) never really finished and instead evolves. So I'd like to continuously ship new versions of a product to customers.

Unfortunately, when you update the files in an entitlement or attach a new entitlement to a product, the change only applies to new purchases. Existing customers keep access to the files that were part of the product when they bought it, so the new version won't appear in their customer portal, and they aren't notified automatically.

This is a pity in my opinion. I now have to write emails and host the files somewhere else just to ship version updates of my digital downloads. Instead, I'd love to create a new entitlement that I attach to an existing product, and then let customers retroactively (i) access all new versions of my product, i.e. all new entitlements I add to the product (or only those I make available to already existing customers, e.g. only minor versions, but not major versions). And (ii) notify users automatically about newly added versions (including some custom release notes). (i) has priority to me.
